An owner-managed software company.
juspertor GmbH has published the LayoutEditor since 2007. The company is run by its owner, Jürgen Thies. It also maintains FreeRouting and develops software for individual customers.
Thousands of LayoutEditor licences have been sold. The program is in use at most of the large technology companies and at universities around the world, often alongside a main design system, for tasks where the large vendors' tools would cost far more than the job justifies. By agreement, we do not name our customers.
Development, support and decisions stay in one place. Questions about the software go directly to the people who write it.
Our aim
Our customers do technically demanding work: masks, chips, boards and production flows that must be exact. The software for that work has to be dependable, and it has to be easy enough that a competent engineer can use it without months of training.
Long training periods on the tool itself should be a thing of the past. The complexity belongs to the design, not to the program.
Every common operating system
Our programs run on Linux, Windows and macOS, in the same release. Work can start on the computer that is already on the desk. For us that is part of the product, not a port that comes later.
Some EDA vendors still require one particular operating system before their software can be used. That made sense at a time when a company could expect its customers to adapt their IT to the tool. It is no longer a reasonable requirement, and we do not make it.

Everyone at juspertor is fully committed to this work. The published programs, the open-source router and every customer project get the same attention.
